Shompole Lodge is located in a private 35,000 acre core conservancy, 30 minutes by air from Nairobi, the Mara or Amboseli. Situated on the edge of the Nguruman Escarpment in Southern Kenya on the Tanzanian border, the lodge overlooks the vast plains and volcanic hills of the Great Rift Valley. Within sight of the unique soda lakes of Lake Natron and Lake Magadi, this region provides guests the rare opportunity to visit Africa’s only flamingo breeding habitat.
Each of the six luxurious Shompole Lodge suites, offering their own cool swimming pools, have been designed to harness the colors and textures of the surrounding natural landscape. They combine a variety of white quartz stone, pale thatch, polished fig wood and smooth white walls that give them both a unique contemporary style and a touch of the African bush.
Water is the main feature of the property, flowing through each suite and collecting in private cool pools where one can peacefully enjoy the vast visual expanse that stretches to the horizon.
Shompole has been designed to accommodate those who would like to relax in a beautiful environment, listen to the sounds of the bush and take pleasure in being inert!
