The word Tintswalo in the Shangaan language means the "intangible feeling of love or gratitude". Tintswalo is an exclusive safari lodge built beneath the traditional thatch grass. This intimate luxurious property is situated on a private concession in the Manyeleti Reserve, within the Greater Kruger National Park.
Here you will discover a pristine wilderness reserve nestled between the Sabi Sand, Timbavati and Kruger Park. The region abounds in Big Five game and spectacular bird life. The Manyeleti Reserve is unique for its minimal vehicle density and so offers a true and exclusive safari experience.
Tintswalo Safari Lodge is situated along a seasonal river bed amongst an ancient sycamore fig tree grove. The exquisitely appointed main lodge overlooks a waterhole frequented by a large herd of elephant and other big game. The six Explorer Suites are all linked to the main lodge by raised wooden walkways and are authentically decorated to recall the pioneering times of the nineteenth century African explorers. All air-conditioned suites are situated along the banks of a seasonal river and provide supreme comfort and privacy. Viewing a large variety of big game from the privacy of your suite remains an unforgettable experience. The indoor and outdoor shower leads off the spacious and romantic bathroom which opens out onto a private wooden leisure deck. Guests can luxuriate in a private plunge pool or just relax on a lounger under the African Sun.
Twice-daily open Land Rover safaris accompanied by a personal game ranger and tracker team are offered. Walking and night safaris with a trained and armed tracker offers a vastly different window onto the African bush.
The Baines Presidential Suite has two full suites joined by a spacious living area and open plan kitchen. Dining at the presidential can either be experienced in the privacy of the suite, served by a Tintswalo chef or guests may enjoy any of the main lodge dining venues.
Children are welcome in this suite, however the main lodge facilities are for adults only, unless prior arrangement has been made.
Tintswalo Manor House, an intimate homely setting with complete privacy is also within the concession and is a few minutes drive from the main lodge. Four luxury en-suite air-conditioned rooms overlook a waterhole that often welcomes thirsty visitors of all kinds. This is the ideal private bush haven for families or a few close friends traveling together who demand complete privacy and personalized attention.
Tintswalo is aggressively pro-active in respect of upliftment programs for local communities. Chief amongst these is 'Education Alive,' which was started in March 1998. It is based in neighboring communities in the Limpopo Province.
